Roundtable Discussion

raised Jev, a new model he'd been curious about. As he noted, it isn't a regular LLM. Instead of generating free-form text, it picks from a limited set of predefined answers and returns a confidence score for each. It's positioned as a fast, low-cost companion to a standard LLM for tasks like routing, classification, and filtering, while the LLM still handles writing and open-ended reasoning. Jev comes from TypeSafe AI, a startup co-founded by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida, and only launched in September 2026, so it's still early days.

talked about a pair of blog posts he wrote on Web Tiles, a new kind of embeddable content on the AT Protocol. A Web Tile is a small, sandboxed interactive app that's published to a user's own PDS and loaded live into any page that embeds it. Because it can only use what was bundled with it, it's safe to drop into someone else's site.

Atproto Web Tile Embeds walks through embedding a live, rotatable 3D tile, which took a small dedicated server to supply the security isolation his static hosting couldn't.

The follow-up, Wishes: Creating Two Web Tiles that Talk to Each Other, shows two tiles, hosted on completely separate PDS repos, cooperating through a mechanism called "wishes." A spinning cube asks for a color scheme without knowing who will answer, and a palette tile responds with options to choose from. The relay runs through the host web page, and future versions are planned for discoverability and an external relay.
